Fernando Perez, Principal Flute

Available for Sponsorship

Fernando Perez is originally from Boise, ID, and a dual major student studying accountancy and flute performance under the tutelage of Dr. Nicole Molumby at Boise State University. Perez’s love for music started with his favorite childhood show, Tom & Jerry. The orchestral backtrack caught his attention and he has never looked back.

Perez has been a featured soloist with the Idaho Falls Symphony, Meridian Symphony, and the Boise Phil Youth Orchestra. He has competed in well known competitions such as the National Flute Association High School Soloist Competition, Central Ohio Flute Association, and Donald Runnicles Musical Arts Scholarship. He has also been selected to participate in the prestigious National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America.

Perez has worked with internationally known players such as Jennifer Gunn (Chicago Symphony), Erica Peel (Philadelphia Orchestra), Seth Morris (MET Opera), Demarre Mcgill (Seattle Symphony), and Kelly Zimba (Toronto Symphony).

Being of Latino descent, Perez is fully committed to serving as a mentor for underrepresented high school students. Through an organization at his school, he is involved in planning an annual event, “Dream For Tomorrow,” that opens doors for latino students to gain resources for higher education and make professional connections. He has also worked as an administrative assistant and flute instructor for the Boise State Chamber Music Camp.
